About- Traces Of The Soul Documentary

Unlike digital communication, handwriting carries something beyond literal meaning, something of the soul.

Through the eyes of twelve international artists “Traces of the soul” explores the world of contemporary calligraphy and why
it is an increasingly relevant art form in this digital age.

The film reveals how the art, philosophies and life stories of these artists, whose diverse work is rooted in the ancient traditions of calligraphy,
reflect and engage with the modern world.

Martin Cooper has over 20 years experience as an editor within the British television industry. He has been awarded a Royal Television Society Award, judged on the prestigious Grierson Arts Documentary panel and has edited documentaries which have won both Bafta and Emmy awards. 'Traces of the Soul' was born of Martin's love of the art of calligraphy.

Adrian "Uchujin" Storey has over 10 years experience shooting and editing documentary pieces for a diverse range of clients including VICE Japan and Greenpeace.

His previous documentary feature "Boys For Sale" has screened at 40 international film festivals and won 6 best documentary awards.

He once worked as a sound engineer for the Dali Lama.
