Yasukuni August 15th

Every year on August 15th, the anniversary of the Japanese surrender at the end of World War II,
thousands of Japanese flock to the controversial Yasukuni shrine to pay their respects to the war dead,
including the 14 class A war criminals intered there.

For the Uyoku Dantai and other right wing elements within Japan it is a chance for a show of power
in an orchestrated pantomime with thousands of police officers, that is rarely, if ever, reported in the Japanese press.
